Tiny Miracle

Watching a tiny newborn baby,
such wonder fills the heart
at the miracle that has come to be
of each delicate, detailed part!
This new little person brings so much joy
as a special gift from above,
each fragile, helpless girl or boy
deserves to be showered with love.
How can we fully understand
all that this small child will give,
as we seek to provide for each crying demand
all that is needed to live?
Lives are touched at the moment of birth
with a fresh appreciation
for the magnitude of what life is worth
in this miracle of creation.

Abiding Hope and Love

After giving birth to my first child, I felt unsure of myself as a young mother. Holding a brand-new life in my arms that was all mine seemed so different from being trusted to watch babies since I was a preteen.

A more experienced mother—one who had just delivered her second baby shared a hospital room with me. Sensing my fears, she took me under her wing with the power of a mother’s encouraging, gentleness. Her meaningful words, “Keep talking to her as you hold your precious baby always close to your heart” has resonated with me throughout motherhood.

Although our lives only touched briefly, one mother’s love and concern for another forever empowered my life. I still can picture this kind, loving angel of a woman, who with her outstretched hands instilled in me a positive image of a mother I longed for and have strived to become.

How would generations to come be impacted, if we were to pass on more love and concern for others?

I want to thank Connie for allowing me to showcase one of her many beautiful poems from her new book titled, “Abiding Hope and Love” for my post.
